Friend --
Today we write to you with much
hanging in the balance. Uncertainty looms over us as our communities
continue to face the unknown.
This new normal has brought many
changes but one constant we are celebrating is the simple fact
that—Black women lead.
This pandemic we have witnessed
firsthand the effects of Black women in leadership have had on
flattening the curve and demonstrates the need to invest in the next
generation of Black women leaders who, in the spirit of Shirley
Chisholm, seek to provide ‘Unbought and Unbossed’ leadership at all
levels.

We
think you would agree that who we elect to lead us matters now more
than ever. Together, we will continue to help Black women lead from
our homes and communities to city halls and congress. Are you willing
to help us hit our goal and invest in Black women with a
contribution?
Our former endorsed candidate,
Mayor London Breed’s early and aggressive moves to contain the
outbreak have made San Francisco a national model in
fighting the pandemic.
London made a critical decision to
shut down the city against popular opinion and her decisive leadership
is now being replicated across the country.
“She took incredible political
heat and criticism,” Senator Kamala Harris
said, “and she had
the courage to make a decision that she in her gut, based on science
and the research she did, told her this was the right thing to do for
her people, even when other people couldn’t see it
yet.”
An
investment in our Black women leaders is an investment in the safety
and health of our families. Help us to continue supporting the women
that value the lives of our families by contributing to the work of
Higher Heights today.
Higher Heights was founded by Black
women for Black women’s political growth and equity, and we have been
working tirelessly to build collective political power and expand
Black women elected leadership in 2020 and beyond—but we can’t do this
work without your support.
Onward,
Glynda
