Elizabeth Gonzales-Cortes

Intern

My name is Elizabeth Gonzales-Cortes and I am a student at UC Irvine. Originally from Madera, I became a Democrat because of my strong commitment to addressing health-related issues. This passion drives me to advocate for policies and initiatives that promote public health, illness prevention, and access to health care. I am dedicated to educating young voters on how to make informed decisions and ensure their voices are heard in this election.

Bahar Babagoli

Intern

As a senior at Chapman University studying Psychology and Political Science, my Iranian-American heritage has deeply influenced my commitment to advocacy, particularly in healthcare access and human rights. Inspired by movements like Women, Life, Freedom in Iran, I've joined the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans to challenge oppressive regimes. Additionally, I'm an active participant in the California Democratic Party, working to boost voter turnout and support for Democratic candidates, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. My efforts extend to promoting environmentalism and educating young voters on political issues.

Pamela Perez

Intern

I’m a San Diego native and a student at Chapman University. As a first-time organizer, my involvement with the Student Government Association has deepened my skills in campaigning and outreach. I identify as a Democrat, advocating for a democratic nation that values choice and compromise. I’m passionate about reforming immigration and tackling income inequality. Currently, as a youth voter engagement intern for CADEM, I lead voter registration drives for young and underrepresented communities, emphasizing the importance of elections through canvassing, phone banking, and social media outreach.

Samantha Toledo

Intern

I’m from Fresno, California, and currently a student at Fresno City College. My commitment to California Democrats stems from my upbringing as the child of immigrant parents, which exposed me to the impact of political decisions on working families. This motivates my advocacy for an inclusive society that champions immigrant rights, affordable education, and equal opportunity.

As an organizer, I work to uplift women's rights, especially reproductive freedom, and advocate for equity in education, economic justice, and immigration reform. To strengthen the Democratic presence in California, I engage voters through door-to-door canvassing and organize voter registration events in low-turnout communities. My goal is to expand access to voting and empower voters to support Democratic candidates, helping us secure vital battleground seats.

Cheryl S. Davis

I was born in Philadelphia and moved to California in 1982 to attend graduate school at UC Davis, eventually settling in Folsom. While I now call California home, I remain a dedicated fan of Philadelphia sports teams. Growing up in a blue-collar, Democratic family, I began my social services career at 19 in a residential program for girls. I earned my Bachelor's degree in sociology from St. Joseph's College in Philadelphia.

After graduation, I cycled from Vancouver to San Diego, which deepened my love for Northern California. Following graduate school, I worked in youth residential programs and was among the first hires for Sacramento's Homeless Programs. Over 26 years, I held various roles in human services, including Human Assistance Director for Sacramento County and Human Services Director for Placer County, retiring as a liaison for the Affordable Care Act's implementation.

My passion for activism started early; I vividly remember being kissed by John F. Kennedy at three. I organized family boycotts for farmworkers, and my mother served as a poll worker until age 75. As a lifelong Democrat, my parents had me register to vote at 18.

As the Political Action Chair for the Folsom Area Democratic Club, I am committed to strengthening the Democratic presence in California. We are actively recruiting candidates for local offices and supporting Democratic candidates for assembly and Congress. With potential Democratic representation on our City Council in 2024, we engage in canvassing, phone banking, postcard parties, and voter registration events to elect Democrats across Folsom.
