Hello,

As we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, I am filled with pride at the contributions of countless Latinas who have shaped our nation’s greatest achievements. Pioneers like Dr. Helen Rodríguez-Trías, a tireless women's health and justice activist, and Dolores Huerta, a champion for workers' rights and reproductive freedom, remind me that our work today is built on the  resilience and progress of those who came before us. It is their legacy that inspires and strengthens the foundation of all we strive to accomplish today.

Latines represent 36+ million voters in this country and I am proudly one of them. My journey as a Puerto Rican raised in Spanish Harlem gave me a front-row seat to the injustices that people of color, LGBTQ+, and immigrant communities face. This experience fuels my passion for uplifting our community, challenging exclusionary systems, and creating spaces where we can thrive.

This month, as we honor our heritage, let's embrace the joy in our collective fight for justice. I often say this work makes me “una mujer Boricua Illena de felicidad” (a Puerto Rican woman full of happiness) because to me, building reproductive freedom is joyful work, especially as we carry forward the legacy of those who paved the way for a better, freer future for all. Your support gives me hope and keeps me going, even when the work gets hard.
