Vance says a future Trump administration would end funding to Planned Parenthood
Hey, remember when JD put on a kinder, gentler face at the vice presidential debate and tried to distance both Donald Trump and himself from their deeply unpopular, radical, far-outside-the-mainstream views on reproductive rights? Yeah, it was bullshit. When asked by a reporter over the weekend whether a future Trump administration would defund Planned Parenthood, the reproductive healthcare group that provides essential healthcare to millions of women and has garnered opposition from many conservatives for its very reasonable, pro-abortion-rights positions, Vance gave away the game. Trump's #2 made disingenuous remarks about taxpayers funding late-term abortions at Planned Parenthood (they do not) and vowed that Republicans would end federal funding for the nationwide clinics, just like their Project 2025 manifesto says. When JD himself says Americans don't trust Republicans when it comes to reproductive rights, this is exactly why. [RETWEET THAT!]

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Republican lies about hurricane on air, instantly regrets it
There is an inconceivable amount of right-wing disinformation online surrounding the hurricane and the federal government's response to it. And, in utterly predictable fashion, Republican talking heads are taking to the airwaves to amplify disingenuous lies that have been refuted by local government officials and governors — Republican and Democratic alike — on the ground in the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia. CNN's Brian Stelter was having none of it on The Source with Kaitlan Collins. Roll the tape.

Trump REFUSES to acknowledge climate crisis at debate
EDF Action: Donald Trump made it clear that if he becomes president, all the progress we've made in the fight against the climate crisis and transitioning to a green energy economy will go right in the trash — and as we grapple with the devastation of Hurricane Helene, it's obvious that we cannot afford to go even one step backwards. Will you pledge to vote for climate champions this November and make sure that Trump and his corporate cronies can't roll back all of President Biden's accomplishments?
New York Times publishes deep dive calling out Trump’s cognitive function: He often seems "confused, forgetful, incoherent or disconnected from reality"
After many, many months of breathless reporting on President Joe Biden's cognitive functioning, The New York Times finally got around to doing a deep dive on the 78-year-old convicted felon and Republican nominee for president, less than a month before the general election. Better late than never, we guess? You won't be surprised to learn that intrepid reporters at The Gray Lady have concluded that, more and more, Trump appears "confused, forgetful, incoherent, or disconnected from reality lately. In fact, it happens so often these days that it no longer even generates much attention." Or, perhaps, it generates less attention because of mainstream media's asymmetrical press coverage and concerted "sane-washing" of the MAGA cult leader?

GOP Speaker Mike Johnson won't commit to bringing House back before the election for more hurricane relief
House Speaker Mike Johnson on Sunday refused to commit to calling Congress back into session before the election after President Biden pressed congressional leaders in both parties about potential funding shortfalls in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Biden urged Congress to restore funding to the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan program, which was facing potential funding shortfalls even before Hurricane Helene devastated parts of the Southeast. Pressed on whether he would call Congress back into a special session, Johnson replied, “We’ll be back in session immediately after the election.” Because no amount of suffering can compel Republican extremists to act in the interest of everyday Americans when theoretical short-term political gains are to be had before an election.

Elon Musk seizes @America handle on X to boost his pro-Trump super PAC
The billionaire, right-wing tech bozo once laughably claimed, "For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral." Since his $44 billion takeover of the social media platform nearly two years ago it has been anything but, as Musk has routinely boosted baseless, far-right conspiracy theories and amplified disingenuous conservative talking points to hundreds of millions of followers.
Trump slams staff for "stupid" fail over photo of rally size
Donald Trump campaigned in Juneau, Wisconsin, on Sunday and rebuked his "stupid" campaign staff for showing the "wrong picture" as he once more attempted to answer liberal mockery over his dwindling crowd sizes. The convicted felon also doubled down on his promise to be a dictator for "one day" if he regains the presidency and not-so-casually warned that the country is "finished" if he loses. The 78-year-old fraudster also told his audience of working people that he "hated to pay overtime" as an employer (we know, Donald), spread paranoia about exploding eco-friendly cars (hear that, Elon?), and continued to push the ridiculous lie that the Biden administration is not helping victims of Hurricane Helene. 29 more days, folks. Let's retire this nincompoop once and for all, shall we?
Canvassing Connectors targets CRITICAL swing state counties in all-hands-on-deck voter outreach mission
Canvassing Connectors: If we’re going to win the 2024 election, we’re going to have to flip every district and knock on every door in the most important counties in America, and that’s why Canvassing Connectors is targeting the key area of Lehigh Valley in the must-win swing state of Pennsylvania. Canvassing Connectors is a super-effective, deep-canvassing operation with a stellar track record of flipping districts and states where Democrats need it the most. If we get them the resources they need, they can turn out another 70,000 voters for Kamala where she needs them the most. This could be the tipping point of the election, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Will you donate now to keep Pennsylvania blue and deliver the White House to Vice President Kamala Harris?
Award-winning author rips JD Vance for his portrayal of Appalachia: "Anti-hillbilly bigotry"
Award-winning author Barbara Kingsolver snubbed JD Vance’s memoir Hillbilly Elegy for its depiction of Appalachia, calling the GOP senator’s book "condescending." Kingsolver, who was born and raised in rural Kentucky in Southern Appalachia, said that fellow Appalachians "felt betrayed" by Vance’s memoir long before he became a Republican politician. She accused the radical right-winger of suggesting "we're in a boat that’s sinking because we're lazy, unambitious and uncreative" in an interview with The Guardian. The "hollowness" of Vance’s memoir, Kingsolver said, proved "he isn't really one of us."
Elon Musk’s mother encourages X followers to commit voter fraud in November
Oh, cool. Just the mother of the world's richest man using her son's propaganda platform to encourage mass voter fraud on the right. Surely the algorithmic safeguards Elon put in place to stop dangerous disinformation from spreading will flag his mom's post, right? Right?
