Please help keep mail on rail

Royal Mail is sending the wrong message on rail freight. We need your help to keep mail on rail.

You may have seen our email in July. Royal Mail announced it was scrapping the last of its fleet of mail trains and moving its mail to a mix of lorry, air and rail freight.

So we're delivering a giant postcard to Keith Williams, Chair of Royal Mail, urging him to work with the Government to increase the amount of mail delivered by train and send a bold message that freight belongs on rail. Your name isn’t on there yet. Will you sign the postcard?

Rail freight is fantastic. Rail produces 76% less carbon per tonne of freight than road transport. And, a single rail freight journey can replace up to 129 HGV journeys.

But, unfortunately only 9% of UK freight moves by rail, compared to 17% in Europe.

We are calling on Royal Mail, the Government and the rail freight industry to work together and we need your help. Ensuring as much of our post as possible stays on rail is important. Please sign the postcard now.
