We can start with PPE

John,

Today is National Nurses Day. While our country’s nurses put their lives on the line for all of us, our elected representatives in Congress can’t seem to get enough PPE in the hands of our nurses, our lifesavers.

In Iowa ([link removed]) , as in many parts of the country, nurses and other frontline healthcare workers are being asked by our government (state and federal) to re-use facemasks that are one-use, one-patient masks. Nurses are provided literature on how to make masks and gowns at home, and are learning to convert anesthesia machines and other equipment into ventilators to make up for shortages.

This is unacceptable. COVID-19 nurses and all frontline workers deserve the equipment they need to keep themselves, their patients and their families safe.

When I’m your U.S. Senator I’ll fight for Medicare for All, so no one has to go without the healthcare they need. I will fight for healthcare workers to have livable wages, safe staffing ratios, strong unions and, in the midst of a crisis like this one, ALL the equipment they need to save lives and stay healthy.

Thank you to all the nurses for working tirelessly to keep us healthy and safe.

Onward to justice for all,
