Dear John,
We are honored to announce that British Member of Parliament Naz Shah will be a featured speaker at our 2024 Empowering Voices Awards on Wednesday, November 13. Shah has been a tireless advocate for equality, justice, and the rights of marginalized communities. Her dedication to combating Islamophobia, xenophobia, and systemic racism has made her a powerful voice in the UK and beyond.
Shah has steadfastly demonstrated courage and resilience in the face of hatred and violence, speaking out against far-right attacks on Muslims and minority groups. Following the tragic attack at a mosque in Northern Ireland and the violent mob assaults targeting Black and Muslim communities, she called for stronger protections for the UK’s most vulnerable communities. In addition to addressing both the national and global rise in Islamophobia, Shah has consistently advocated for minority-led media that offers diverse perspectives, challenging the harmful narratives that target Muslims and ethnic minorities.
Naz Shah’s courageous leadership and staunch commitment to justice and equity are an inspiration. We are honored to hear her insights on her ongoing efforts to promote dignity for all by countering the rise of far-right extremism and advocating for policy reforms that protect marginalized groups.
We hope to see you on Wednesday, November 13 as we recognize the many visionary leaders, courageous journalists, and steadfast advocates who stand committed to our shared values and continue to forge the path toward a more just and equitable world.
