Greetings Friend, A lot is at stake for Nevadans right now and our state as a whole. From people having been laid off and struggling with unemployment to many leaders in Washington thinking that states like ours should go bankrupt. While you may not see it, there are people every day working on issues like this, making sure there’s enough money for people to receive unemployment and fighting to make sure our state is able to get over this crisis. Assemblywoman Maggie Carlton is one of those people. This Thursday, May 7th at 6:00 PM, tune in to the Battle Born Progress Facebook page as we chat with Assemblywoman Maggie Carlton to find out about what people like her are doing to fight for Nevada’s future in a post-COVID world. To recap our previous installments, we talked extensively with State Treasurer Zach Conine about relief for homeowners, student loan borrowers, and rental assistance. Then, we chatted with Lieutenant Governor Kate Marshall about the 2020 Census (DO IT!) and how Nevada’s tourism economy is dealing with the crisis. Recently, we chatted with Congressman Steven Horsford about various funding measures from the U.S. Congress, we talked about state issues with Nevada Senate Majority Leader, Nicole Cannizzaro, and most recently we got to chat with U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto! Finally, check out our resource guide (in English or Spanish) if you or a loved one need assistance during this time. See you (virtually) on Thursday! Maria-Teresa Liebermann Deputy Director |
