John --

As kids, we are taught that our heroes wear capes and fight bad guys.

But the coronavirus pandemic has shown us that today's heroes look a little different -- they wear scrubs and fight COVID-19.

Over the past few weeks, our nurses have proven to be nothing short of heroes -- but today is an especially big day for the champions on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

Today is National Nurses Day, and I'm proud to stand with our nurses today and every day.

As a doctor, I have seen nurses' hard work, compassion, and sacrifice up close and personal.
They are the backbone of our health care system, and I do not know one person whose life has not been positively impacted by the incredible work of nurses.

Especially right now, during the COVID-19 outbreak, our nurses are sacrificing more than their time, energy, and compassion. Right now, nurses on the front lines are sacrificing their health -- and in some cases, their lives -- to take care of us and our loved ones.

Our nurses are giving everything for us, and on National Nurses Day, I want to give them something in return. Will you join me in showing support for our nurses by donating to the American Nurses Foundation's Coronavirus Response Fund today?

Every day, our nurses head fearlessly into battle -- and we need to arm them with the resources and support they deserve.

That's exactly what the American Nurses Foundation's Coronavirus Response Fund is doing. Every cent is going towards keeping our frontline heroes safe and healthy in the physical, mental, financial, and emotional sense as they serve on the front lines of this crisis.

For years, I stood side by side with nurses in doctors' offices and hospitals during my career as a surgeon. Today, I stand next to them as a person, grateful for all they are doing for our state and country. If you're able, please join me in supporting our nurses by chipping in to the American Nurses Foundation's Coronavirus Response Fund today. >> [link removed]
