As a member of the Program Tea, this person will co-facilitate and manage two of our community-led grantmaking programs: Fund of the Sacred Circle and the Giving Project. This person will also leverage and integrate Native leadership across the Foundation.

MN Organizations: Apply for an HFJ Community Innovation Grant
We offer Community Innovation Grants thanks to an ongoing partnership with the Bush Foundation. Grants support communities to use problem solving processes that lead to more effective, equitable, and sustainable solutions. This grant allows communities to increase collective understanding of an issue, generate ideas, and/or test and implement solutions. Organizations may apply online between September 11th and September 25th.
The Program Team is hosting three information sessions starting in September. The first is a conference call scheduled for Thursday, September 5th from 11 a.m. until Noon. The second is another conference call scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. The third and final session will be held onsite in our offices between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday, September 16th.

Kaleo Center Action Learning Cohort <[link removed]>
United Theological Seminary: St. Paul, MN
The Kaleo Center Action Learning Cohort offers a structured, nine-month action class and action learning cohort for faith-leaders and spiritual activists who seek to discern, build, deepen and sustain their leadership for justice. Cohort members will take on real problems in real time in a supportive environment that prioritizes shared learning. Each session involves a collaborative consultation around actual challenges that group members are facing.
The 2019-2020 Kaleo Center Action Learning Cohort beings Thursday, September 12th. Applications are now open. Applications are considered as they are received and limited to eight participants. Applications close on Sunday, September 1st.

United Theological Seminary: St. Paul, MN
Encore Impact engages a diverse group of 55+ adults in a nine-month program of discernment, dialogue, and experience around questions of social purpose. The course focuses on identifying and addressing critical questions within a supportive environment of peers and co-travelers. Each participant will receive customized coaching and mentoring as you develop and nourish an individual action plan for moving forward with purpose and intention.
Encore Impact begins on Thursday, September 12th! Applications are now open. Applications are considered as they are received and limited to 15 participants. Applications close on September 1.
Building Black Solidarity Beyond Borders: Roundtable #1 <[link removed]>

CTUL, Witness for Peace Midwest, Black Visions Collective, and LeftRoots are hosting a two-part roundtable discussion amongst Black movement leaders reflecting on their experiences and visions for international solidarity work.
There will be a panel discussion, Q&A session with organizers from Black Visions Collective and other local organizations, and a social hour.

The Because Black Life Conference will be an amplifier for folks to lean in on strategies, we are developing in Minnesota using our art, dreams, predictions, imaginations and black blueprints to cultivate the world we want to live in.
The Because Black Life Conference sees itself as a hub and incubator in organizing the next year of black life in Minnesota. The Because Black Life Conference is where critical organizing meets education meets arts festival meets black joy. Through workshops we will hear from leading organizers, artists, dreamers, and healers in Minnesota serving as fellow architects in the work of building other black worlds.

Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment is excited to announce a new, ongoing series of workshops to address anti-racism and work towards dismantling white supremacy. By following the Prophetic model, RISE is rooted in the Sunnah and reminded of the diversity of identities and how we show up. This series will provide language, examples, tools, techniques and most importantly sisterhood in order to change a system. One of the largest events that Hispanic Outreach hosts is the annual Hispanic Heritage Festival. In early September, the festival fills a Red Wing park for a day with colorful performances by mariachi bands and dancers, piñata making, authentic Hispanic food, exhibits, activities and more. The festival helps local Hispanics maintain their cultural traditions and provides cross-cultural experiences to strengthen ties with the rest of the community.

Jason Sole and André Wright have come together to create the Humanize My Hoodie movement. This movement is designed to foster critical conversations about threat perception. With the senseless killing of ancestor Trayvon Martin, many conversations spurred about Black, indigenous, and people of color, and their use of hoodies. We seek to further the discussion with hoodies designed to reduce the stigma associated with clothing items. The Humanize My Hoodie Movement is an opportunity for people to discuss the ways in which we view threat.
This four-hour workshop will examine four critical topics:
* The history of the hoodie (a global perspective)
* The mission and vision of the Humanize My Hoodie Movement
* The differences between white people and people of color wearing the brand
* If you're white, what should you say to someone who's asking about the Humanize My Hoodie Movement!
