West Virginia’s teaching the nation how to campaign during a pandemic
Working Families Party

John,

It’s often said that how you campaign is how you’ll govern.

Well, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Stephen Smith didn’t hesitate. WFP’s candidate for governor in West Virginia immediately transformed his people-powered campaign into a coronavirus crisis response team.

In the weeks since, the campaign has trained 349 neighborhood captain volunteers who are checking in on 34,000+ of their neighbors on a weekly basis — making sure folks have access to food, testing, unemployment benefits, and more.

The people of West Virginia deserve a leader who will put working families first. That’s why the West Virginia Working Families Party has been all in for Stephen since the beginning. But with only a month to go until the primary, he needs us to show up for him right now.

Will you chip in $3 directly to Stephen Smith’s campaign now to help us elect a WFP champion in West Virginia in 34 days?

Even before the state government had a coronavirus resource website, Stephen Smith’s team had already created one of their own.

This is in stark contrast to “deadbeat billionaire” Governor Jim Justice, who — just like his pal Donald Trump — downplayed the crisis and encouraged West Virginians to “go to Bob Evans and eat.”

And while Governor Justice has — just like his pal Trump — stumbled through his daily press conferences, Stephen has been inviting heroic volunteers and frontline workers onto his nightly Facebook Live broadcasts to help residents make sense of this crisis.

Stephen has also released an ambitious coronavirus economic relief plan, written by and for the working class. But he also knows he can’t do it alone.

That’s why when he launched his campaign, Stephen also launched the WV Can’t Wait movement to help elect 93 down-ballot pro-labor, no-corporate PAC candidates to fight alongside him for progressive priorities at the state capital.

Stephen is showing every day what it means to run a movement campaign, and with your help, we can show how a movement campaign can win.

Every $100 that is donated sponsors enough stamps, envelopes, and postcards for one more neighborhood captain toolkit. Will you chip in $3, and 100% of your contribution will go directly to Stephen Smith’s campaign?
