john, our Republican opponent Bill Hagerty landed himself a multi-million dollar loan to fund his U.S. Senate campaign from a bank owned and operated by his political allies.
At the same time, Tennessee’s struggling small businesses were anxiously awaiting to apply for Paycheck Protection Program loans promised in the CARES stimulus package passed by Congress to get through the economic fallout from the pandemic.
You know who didn’t have to wait? Bill Hagerty. He was able to leverage the same wealth and insider connections he used to deliver himself an overseas post as an ambassador two years earlier to secure his sweetheart multi-million dollar loan, adding to all the corporate PAC money already in his campaign coffers. I’m not taking out massive loans from friendly banks to fund our organization. And I’m not taking a dime from corporate PACs.
john -- your thoughts and experiences inform our grassroots movement. That’s why our campaign is focused on connecting with and listening to Tennesseans all over the state. But with our in-person campaign conversations cancelled, I need your help.
john: Do you or anyone you know have experience trying to get a small business Paycheck Protection Program loan? What will getting (or not getting) that assistance mean for your small business or community? Please share your story here →
Hearing about real experiences from you all is extremely important to me as it helps me know more about everyone I’m asking to serve. Thanks in advance for sharing, I appreciate it.
In service,
James
