Federal authorities argued this week that Donald Trump should NOT be
immune from prosecution for his role in January 6 — despite the Supreme
Court’s extreme “absolute immunity” ruling.^1

Unsealed documents at the hearing revealed stunning evidence to the
public, including many statements Trump made in the aftermath of the 2020
election. “It doesn’t matter if you won or lost the election. You still
have to fight like hell,” Trump said after his loss.^2

No one is above the law, and Trump must be held accountable for his role
in trying to overturn the 2020 election results. That’s why Democrats
introduced the No Kings Act — to invalidate the SCOTUS Trump immunity
ruling and ensure presidents cannot escape prosecution for crimes.

Trump’s lawyers are still trying to get charges dropped against the former
president.^3

The extreme SCOTUS ruling, orchestrated in large part by John Roberts,
gives dangerous, unlimited powers to American presidents. Justice Sonia
Sotomayor wrote, "In every use of official power, the president is now a
king above the law." She added that she feared for our democracy.^4

Democrats are pushing the No Kings Act to override this dangerous SCOTUS
ruling, protect American democracy, and ensure our leaders can be held
accountable.
