Meet Little Leyla: A Story of Resilience
We are appalled at the continued onslaught on Lebanon, Palestine, and across the region and are heartbroken with the direct impact on many of you, our staff, and the community.
In Gaza, the situation has become particularly dire, with the ongoing genocide now surpassing a somber one-year mark. Entire families are grappling with the horrors of war, their lives upended by loss and destruction.
Leyla is a bright 10-year-old girl living in Gaza, with her loving mother and three older brothers. She treasures her doll, Fatima, taking it with her everywhere, and delights in the Knafeh her mother makes on the weekends. Leyla also has a playful grey kitten she adores, and she eagerly attends school each day to learn and play with her best friend, Aisha.
A year ago, everything changed when Gaza was relentlessly bombarded. In an instant, Leyla lost everything—her home, her family, and the very essence of her identity. She has become an orphan, struggling to navigate unimaginable pain and loss.
Though this story is fictitious, there are more than 20,000 children in Gaza facing a similar fate to Leyla, trying to survive and recover amid the chaos. These children have lost their homes, their schools, their toys, and, for many, the most important figures in their lives—their parents.
With limited access to food, water, healthcare and shelter, Gaza’s children are grappling with severe mental health challenges, including heightened anxiety, sleeplessness, and emotional turmoil.
You can make a profound difference in their lives by contributing to the All Hearts for Gaza’s Orphans humanitarian gala. This event unites our communities to connect, learn, and raise critical funds for orphans in Gaza.
By attending, you’ll directly support long-term solutions that help these children rebuild their futures. Don’t miss this chance to impact the lives of Gaza’s most vulnerable children.
