Dear friend, This is unprecedented: Just last week, the FDA held a public meeting inviting comments on the way they review harmful chemicals in food. This means that for the first time in decades, the FDA is asking for our input on safety criteria – but the window to submit comments closes December 6. We must act quickly to seize this rare moment. For decades, the FDA’s broken approach to food safety has put all of us at risk. Even as evidence mounts linking post-market chemicals like color additives, food packaging contaminants and preservatives to serious health risks, the FDA has looked the other way. From BHA, a known carcinogen used in preserved meat, to Red Dye No. 3, linked to cancer – it’s time for the FDA to take a closer look at what’s in our food. As the FDA finally considers developing a chemical review program, your input can help shape it. We can’t let this critical window close without speaking out. It only takes a minute to demand a healthier, safer food system. Please, add your comment before December 6! |
