Friend, the news about Hurricane Helene’s devastation is changing rapidly, so we wanted to make sure you had the latest update:
FIRST: Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 storm in Florida before ripping through Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas. Clinics, roads, bridges and homes were washed away in the catastrophic flooding. With impassable roads and widespread power outages, damaged communities were isolated.The death toll reached over 200 people, and sadly continues to grow.
THEN: Americares emergency response teams quickly deployed to the hardest hit areas to coordinate urgent aid with more than 360 partners in the region. In one badly damaged town in southern Georgia, staff at a local clinic told the Americares team they were the first outside help to arrive since the storm.
NOW: Entire communities are still without power and water and our teams are still on the ground coordinating deliveries of medicines, hygiene kits, water and other relief supplies. But we need your help to continue this lifesaving work.
