John,
Did you see this headline from The Guardian?
[ [link removed] ]A headline from The Guardian detailing the havoc Hurricane Helene
brought to Asheville, North Carolina. The storm's damage to the city
exemplifies the stunning reach of the global climate crisis.
It reports that Asheville, North Carolina used to be considered a “haven”
from extreme weather events. As Hurricane Helene has shown us, those
havens may now be extinct.
The reality is that climate change is getting worse, and the results are
deadly. It is far past time to take action. [ [link removed] ]Will you sign our petition
urging Congress to take immediate and decisive action on climate change?

President Biden is ordering aid to those affected by Helene, but it’s
unfortunately only a short-term reaction to a decades-old problem. Too
many Congressmembers are beholden to corporate polluters, so their
constituents get thoughts and prayers — and no meaningful, systemic
changes.
Lead Locally has been working hard to support climate activists who are
running for office in down-ballot races. These leaders, if elected, can
make meaningful changes to local environmental policy regardless of who
wins at the top of the ticket this November.
But at the federal level, we need your support to build an overwhelming
outcry that Capitol Hill can’t ignore. [ [link removed] ]Will you add your voice by
signing our petition telling Congress to finally legislate on climate
change?
Thank you,
Lead Locally HQ
