Dear friend,
Have you registered yet?
Earlier this week, I told you about how our next webinar couldn’t be more urgent. We need your help. Please join us at a pivotal moment for animal welfare.
The special event is called Yes on Prop 127! Cats Aren’t Trophies: What This Critical Ballot Initiative Means for Colorado and the Country. It will take place Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. ET. Please go here to register today. Seating is limited, and I want you on the call with us.
Here’s why it’s so important you attend. In the first half of October, 4.5 million voters in Colorado will receive their ballots by mail for the November national election. On that ballot is Prop 127, which asks voters if they will ban trophy hunting and commercial trapping of mountain lions, bobcats, and lynx in Colorado.
The Center for a Humane Economy and Animal Wellness Action, with our teams on the ground, have been leading the effort to pass Prop 127 within a coalition of 100 organizations. It’s a campaign that’s been endorsed by actor Robert Redford, wildlife biologist Jane Goodall, former U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service director Dan Ashe, and political leaders from Colorado on both sides of the political divide — Democrat and former U.S. Sen. Mark Udall and Republican and former Rep. Tom Tancredo.
Join us for this special online event to hear from Dr. Jim Keen, DVM, Ph.D., head of veterinary sciences for the Center for a Humane Economy, who will discuss the role of lions in limiting the spread of a deadly brain-wasting disease in deer and elk; Wayne Pacelle, who is the architect of more than 50 winning ballot measure campaigns; and Samantha Miller, who is helping to lead the campaign on the ground in Colorado, engaging with urban, suburban, and rural residents to advocate for the humane treatment of lions and bobcats and underscoring their essential role in balancing nature.
We certainly want every Coloradan to join us. But we want people from all 50 states to join us, too. Everyone can help support this campaign in some form, and we’ll tell you how.
Prop 127 is the only statewide anti-cruelty ballot measure up for vote this election cycle. Let’s give all the support we can to Colorado voters to educate them about animal cruelty baked into the existing government program that allows killing these animals for their heads, hides, and beautiful coats.
Colorado must win this battle not just for wildlife. It must make a statement against cruelty to animals in its ugliest expressions. And we need your voice to help amplify it.
Speakers include:
- Wayne Pacelle, president, Animal Wellness Action and the Center for a Humane Economy
- Jim Keen, DVM, Ph.D., head of veterinary sciences for the Center for a Humane Economy
- Samantha Miller, campaign director, Yes on 127 | Cats Aren’t Trophies
Please join us.
