Contact Me Here   We Must Preserve the Trump Tax Cuts Since its passage in 2017, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has been a game-changer for families, small businesses, and hardworking Americans across the country. But what does that mean for families here in NY-24 if lawmakers don't act to preserve TCJA's crucial tax policies? The average taxpayer in NY-24 could see their taxes rise by 25%. A family of four earning the district’s median income of $69,878 would face a $1,373 tax increase. Nearly 79,000 families in our district could see their Child Tax Credit cut in half. Over 92% of taxpayers in NY-24 would see their Standard Deduction amount cut drastically, raising their tax liability. More than 40,000 small businesses could be hit with a crushing 43.4% effective tax rate if the 199A Qualified Business Income Deduction expires. Almost 15,000 taxpayers would be affected by the return of the individual Alternative Minimum Tax. Family-owned farms in our district would lose half of their death tax exemption—impacting 6,804 farms. With inflation increasing everyday costs for working-class families, we must preserve the TCJA provisions that have provided much-needed relief in this hostile economy created by the Biden-Harris administration. As a strong advocate for pro-growth policies, I will continue working to ensure the benefits of the Trump Tax Cuts remain in place for future generations. Protecting New Yorkers from Dangerous Criminals In New York, radical leaders in Albany are actively encouraging dangerous illegal aliens to enter and settle in our state, even using federal taxpayer dollars to support them. This is unacceptable. We need strong policies to keep our communities safe and ensure that illegal aliens who commit violent crimes are deported and banned from re-entry. The facts are clear — 425,431 convicted criminals have been released into our country under the Biden-Harris administration. This includes 62,231 individuals convicted of assault, 15,811 convicted of sexual assault, and 13,099 convicted of homicide. These numbers are staggering, and demonstrate the urgent need for action. That's why I recently voted for H.R. 7909, the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act. This bill mandates the deportation of illegal aliens who commit sex offenses or domestic violence and ensures they are permanently barred from re-entering the U.S. I also supported H.R. 5717, the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act, which stops sanctuary cities and states from using your taxpayer dollars to fund services for illegal immigrants. I will continue to advocate for the safety and security of New Yorkers. Our tax dollars should not be funding or prolonging this border crisis created by the Biden-Harris administration. Election Integrity Update Michigan now requires proof that absentee ballot signatures are verified before they are counted, marking a significant victory for election integrity in the state! Signature verification is a critical tool to prevent cheating and fraud in our elections. This policy not only helps voters cast their ballots with greater confidence but also strengthens the administration of elections. With growing concerns over how elections are run, it's more important than ever to protect the integrity of our process. H.R. 8702 – The Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act –This bipartisan bill will streamline the prior authorization process within Medicare Advantage (MA). Doing so will alleviate the administrative burdens faced by health care providers, improve access to timely, quality care for seniors, and prioritize patients' well-being over excessive paperwork. H.R. 9660 – the SEEK HELP Act – This bill provides federal Good Samaritan protections for the administration of opioid overdose reversal drugs, like Narcan. The opioid epidemic has claimed too many lives in our communities, and 48 states, including New York, have state-level Good Samaritan protections for the administration of opioid overdose reversal drugs. These protections have had a proven impact on reducing opioid overdose deaths, which is why this commonsense bill is endorsed by the National District Attorneys Association and supported by the Fraternal Order of Police. H.Res.1493, strongly condemning Vice President Kamala Harris for championing policies that would exacerbate the national debt and reduce energy independence. The Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous war on energy has led to the highest inflation in 40 years. Now that Americans are paying the price, it’s vital the House of Representatives strongly condemn the role this administration played in destroying American energy independence. Inviting NY-24 Vietnam Veterans to Our Vietnam War Commemoration Pinning Ceremony in Wayne County Pictures from the Oswego Commemorative Pinning Ceremony Our team is hosting another Vietnam War Commemoration Pinning Ceremony to honor our Vietnam Veterans. This event is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the service of Vietnam veterans and providing them with a formal “Welcome Home.” Our veterans will be presented with a commemorative Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin, symbolizing our nation’s deep gratitude for their service I recently honored 30 Vietnam veterans at a similar ceremony in Oswego. Calling for Governor Hochul to Prioritize our Corrections Officers Over Criminals Corrections officers risk their lives every day to keep dangerous individuals off our streets and maintain order in our prisons. These officers often report for 8-hour shifts, only to end up working 16 to 24 hours straight due to the overtime required to keep facilities safe. This year is on track to break records for confirmed instances of violence against our officers in our jails, with reports of officers even having their fingers bitten off in some instances. Corrections officers have repeatedly called on the Hochul administration to address staffing shortages and rising violence, yet she has failed to respond adequately. This week, I joined my colleagues in sending a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul, urging her to address these deeply troubling developments. Her failure to provide sufficient support to corrections officers is deeply troubling and underscores the need for state policies that address staffing shortages and the escalating violence in our prisons. It's time Governor Hochul and Albany Democrats prioritize the safety of corrections officers over that of criminals. Read the full text of the letter here. Honoring Oswego County Sheriff Deputy Cailee Campbell This week, our community came together to honor and lay to rest Oswego County Sheriff's Deputy Cailee Campbell. Deputy Campbell's passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her and those whose lives she touched through her dedicated service. Deputy Campbell's career in law enforcement began in May 2019, when she joined the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office. In 2023, she brought her passion and expertise to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, where she continued to uphold the values of integrity and service that define our law enforcement officers. Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family, friends, and the entire Oswego County Sheriff's Department as they continue to grieve the loss of this remarkable individual.
