Dear Jack,

MCPP has been effective at driving change in Mississippi.

We helped spearhead efforts earlier this year to reform school funding, so that Mississippi funds students, not a system.  In 2022, we worked hand-in-glove with lawmakers to cut the state income tax to a flat 4 percent.  Before that, a bill we were behind helped deregulate the local labor market.

Gov Tate Reeves signing into law a bill to deregulate the local labor market.
Given that Mississippi has such a large conservative majority, surely it ought to be possible to accomplish far more?

Tennessee, north of us, has eliminated their income tax entirely.  Arkansas and Alabama on either side now have universal school choice.  Even Louisiana has managed to pass legislation to give families control over their child’s share of the education budget.

MCPP has excellent relations with key policy makers.  But sometimes driving change means more than being on texting terms with local lawmakers.  It’s not enough to simply spend time at the Capitol.  We need to build a mass movement for change, as well.

In politics, nothing moves without a push.  And often the key to pushing policies forward is having a media climate and a culture that demands change.

The old media might be a shadow of its former self, but MCPP is building a movement for change using new methods of communication.

This newsletter you are reading, for example, was sent out to over 83,000 people (overwhelming in Mississippi) today – as it is every week.

Since the summer, when we revamped our studio, we have begun to produce a lot more video content.

In the past 90 days, we have had 163,793 people watching our YouTube channel, watching 24,267 hours of our content.

Here is a sample of some of the content we have produced.  It is an eclectic mix, ranging from Shad White to School Choice, income tax abolition to Islamism – but it is, we hope you agree, of interest to a Mississippi audience.  The viewing metrics we have certainly suggest it is!

As we start to build a mass audience across our state, the case for change becomes harder to resist!

Have a wonderful weekend – and I hope you don’t spend too much of it on YouTube!

Warm regards,
