Monday, Oct. 7, marks the anniversary of attacks on Israel and the genocide in Gaza that followed. Over the past year, almost all of our AFSC community has been involved in efforts to aid Palestinians displaced in Gaza, advocate for an end to genocide, and resource a growing movement for divestment. AFSC STATEMENT
U.S. must act now to prevent further escalation in the Middle East [link removed]
The recent Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the missile exchanges between Iran and Israel have dangerously escalated regional tensions. We urge the Biden administration to take decisive action to prevent wider conflict. The U.S. must enact an arms embargo on Israel, secure a permanent cease-fire for Gaza, and commit to de-escalation with Iran while pressuring Israel to cease attacks on Lebanon. Read more. No one should fear seeking social services due to their immigration status. But too often, immigrants are detained or deported after routine interactions with police or government agencies. That has had a chilling effect that has kept people from seeking the help they need. Today, AFSC, partners, and community members in New Jersey are pushing for legislation to change that. Read more.
