International Day of Action!
End the War on Gaza! One Year of Resistance

This Saturday, 10/5, 2pm

Pier 62 - Seattle Waterfront

Join Seattle DSA members to hold up picket signs, our Stop US Military Aid to Israel banner, and talk with passer-bys about our campaign to boycott war profiteers and to raise the demands for an End to All Military Aid to Israel; to Stop the War, Occupation, and Apartheid and to Free Palestine!

The Boeing Machinists fight on, and SDSA stands with them!

It is now Week 4 of the strike as members of IAM 751 fight for a better contract that ensures a living wage, the return of their pensions, better healthcare and safer working conditions. While Boeing has paid $817 million over the past decade to executives and $68 billion to shareholders, machinists continue to struggle with rising costs of living. Members of Seattle DSA have been there alongside them every step of the way and will continue to be. An injury to one is an injury to all!

This week brought two significant developments. In their attempt to coerce striking machinists back to work, Boeing has canceled workers’ health insurance and is promising to reinstate them for only those who return to work. This retaliatory action by Boeing constitutes a draconian attack on the workers and their bid for a strong contract.

Seattle DSA’s Labor Working Group recently secured a large recurring donation of fresh produce from a local farm to IAM 751! The weekly donations will run through the first frost to ensure striking machinists and their families are well fed. Healthy food makes for healthy picket lines! This highlights the support striking machinists have in the broader community.  Show your support by making a donation to the IAM strike fund.

SDSA members can continue to show their solidarity by volunteering to help IAM 751 whenever they can. Night owl picketers are still needed for the evening (8pm-12am) and late night (12am-4am) shifts, and we strongly encourage volunteers to attend in groups of at least two or more.

If you are driving to the pickets, park at the IAM Hall at 9125 15th Place South and catch a shuttle to the picket lines. The entrance is between the two buildings. Shuttles run regularly and there’s no parking along the lines. If you are taking public transit, you can get off directly at the picket line at 14th & East Marginal Way.

General Election Canvass for Shaun Scott
This Sat. 10/5 11am w/IBEW 46!
Volunteer Park: RSVP

This Sun. 10/6 11am
Miller Playfield: RSVP

The general election is just 4 weeks away! These past three weekends, we’ve been emphasizing Shaun’s socialist policy platform: Shaun’s commitment to fighting budget cuts and fully funding our public schools by taxing the ultra-rich and big business, resonated powerfully with voters across the spectrum. Recently the Seattle School Board announced its intention on closing up to 21 Elementary schools - the biggest closure of schools in the country! - laying off educators, and potentially going after educators wages to make up the $100 million deficit. We can’t wait to hit the doors again this week to send a working class champion to Olympia this November!

The Seattle Times has endorsed his right-wing, pro-corporate Democratic Party opponent Andrea Suarez. We’re going to have to fight back as pro-corporate and pro-developer forces align behind Andrea Suarez.

Who is Shaun Scott? Read more about him here.

🏠 Join a discussion with Seattle DSA's Housing Justice Working Group to learn about public banking 🏠

📅 Date: Sunday 10/06

🕒 Time: 7pm

📍 Location: Zoom

Attend the HJWG monthly meeting to learn how a public bank can finance social housing and critical infrastructure throughout Washington and King County!

A public bank can leverage state revenue to invest in essential projects. This approach can challenge private banks, ensure our communities have the support they need to build housing, invest in clean energy, and create union jobs.

The event features a presentation from Marco Rosaire Rossi an organizer with Washingtonians for Public Banking followed by a discussion/Q&A.
