This week, we’re celebrating Representative Gabe Vasquez of Las Cruces, NM!

Gabe Vasquez was elected in 2022, flipping his seat blue.

Vasquez knew his community needed a change. After seeing that one of the former representative’s first votes in Congress was to deny the results of the 2020 election, he stepped up. In Congress, Vasquez continues to fight for change by conserving New Mexico’s land and natural resources, advancing immigration reform, and upholding ethics in Congress.  

Vasquez understands that his community takes things personally, which is why everything he does in Congress reflects the values of him and his community.

Gabe Vasquez is passionate about issues like immigration reform in Congress because he grew up on both sides of the border.  He saw firsthand how powerful it can be to know that your representative fights for families like his. This is what inspired him to eventually run for Las Cruces City Council, where he turned his vision into action. Working for his community, he saw there were issues bigger than his role that he wanted to fix, and he knew he had to run for Congress to continue his fight.
