Hello Democrats,
With only 32 days until Election Day and early voting beginning even sooner on October 21, this is our all hands on deck moment. We are canvassing, calling, caravanning and also partying! We need your help to make sure every Democrat has a plan to vote and is empowered with the information they need to elect proud Democrats down the entire ticket. We also welcome donations ([link removed]) to support our initiatives.

If you have received your mail-in-ballot please return your ballot ASAP. Voting as early as possible helps our Democratic candidates narrow their focus and enables them to conduct more effective outreach to voters.

We're canvassing tomorrow and Monday! Come join our canvassing team to knock on Democrats' doors in Indian River County. We will be notify voters of changes to vote-by-mail and share candidate and ballot measure information. If you are a Spanish speaker we need your help too. No experience is necessary and training is provided.

First, join us for an exciting day of unity and fun as we go cruising for Democrats during our caravan event for Indian County Democrats!

We’ll kick off our journey by staging at a local park to bring together supporters from across Indian River County. Wave your flags, honk your horns, and show your Democratic spirit as we caravan together, making our voices heard!

Our caravan will end at the Garden Club where the Democrats of Indian River have planned a special volunteer appreciation event complete with food and beverages. This is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow Democrats, share your passion, and rally for the upcoming elections!

2024 Ballot Measures - Yes on 4

The initiative would provide a constitutional right to abortion before viability or when "necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's healthcare provider."[1] ([link removed](2024)#cite_note-initiative-1)

A "yes" vote supports adding the following language to the Florida Constitution’s Declaration of Rights ([link removed]) : “… no law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.” Amendment 4 would maintain the current constitutional provision ([link removed](2004)) that permits a law requiring parents to be notified before a minor can receive an abortion.

HISTORY - On April 1, 2024, the Florida Supreme Court ([link removed]) ruled that the constitution's right to privacy does not include the right to abortion, overturning a previous decision by the court in 1989 finding that the privacy clause did include a right to abortion. The ruling allowed the state's 15-week abortion ban, passed by the legislature in 2022, to take effect. In 2023, the legislature passed another bill, known as the Heartbeat Protection Act, to ban abortion at six weeks, which was contingent on the state supreme court overturning its prior ruling and allowing the 15-week ban to take effect. The six-week ban took effect on May 1. Before 2022, abortions were legal in Florida until 24 weeks.[5] ([link removed](2024)#cite_note-5)

Join People Power United learn more about their postcard and letter-writing-to-voters program. No supplies are needed. They write postcards/and or letters to targeted voters to increase turnout in close, critical elections nationwide. People Power United champions progressive values and power to the people. They are a group of people who believe in the possibility of change and work to make it happen.

Center for Common Ground is writing Get Out The Vote postcards for Florida's general election. Their goal is to send almost 1 million postcards to Black women in Florida. Racially inclusive, uplifting, colorful and eye-catching postcards with voting rights themes, designed by young immigrant artists of color, are part of their strategy, and provided at a discount through their online postcard store.
