Email from Rep. Hinson Friend, This week, I was back out on the road to kick off another 22 County Tour focusing on the challenges facing rural Iowa. As I’ve traveled throughout rural parts of our district, I’ve heard from people who are truly scared about rural communities making it and what the future of rural America looks like. I am passionate about ensuring Iowans in rural areas have the same access to services and opportunities as those in urban areas. I'm grateful to work with so many community partners to keep rural Iowa vibrant – that means better access to child care, education, economic opportunity, and health care for all rural communities. From day one, I have consistently fought to bring resources back to rural Iowa, improve services for rural Iowans, and ensure the vitality of our rural communities and way of life. Read on for more information on my work for Iowans! Best, 50th Anniversary Celebration of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library Thank you to President Petr Pavel of the Czech Republic and President Peter Pellegrini of Slovakia for joining the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library. Cedar Rapids is home to the second-largest population of people of Czech ancestry and I look forward to deepening our cultural and economic ties. Working Families Roundtable with Dyersville Chamber Thanks to the Dyersville Chamber for hosting a roundtable conversation about the challenges facing working families in rural communities and to the folks who shared their stories and experiences with me. We have to improve access to quality child care, lower inflation, and expand opportunities in rural Iowa. More 4 Manchester with the Iowa Rural Vitality Coalition The Iowa Rural Vitality Coalition's mission is to solve challenges facing rural Iowans and improve quality of life in our communities by expanding access to health care, child care, and other vital resources. I'll continue working alongside these community leaders to improve quality of life for rural Iowans and keep these small communities vibrant for generations to come. Nick's Family Grocery I had a great time visiting Nick’s Family Grocery in Winthrop! It was great to hear their story, and I even bought some delicious chocolate chip cookies to take home to the boys. I also talked to customers about inflation and rising cost of living as they were doing their weekly shopping. I’ll continue fighting to help families keep more of their hard-earned money. Investing in IA-02: Mason City Water Infrastructure Expansion Project As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I have worked to cut wasteful spending while reinvesting taxpayer dollars in Iowa. I was proud to help secure $1,000,000 in federal funding to expand Mason City’s water infrastructure, helping all residents and businesses access clean drinking water.
