Building community is at the heart of our work, Friend.

We believe that when our neighbors’ needs are met, we create stronger and more interdependent communities.

Our community garden in Hempstead, Long Island does just that.

We’re proud of how our garden has–quite literally–grown. Mary Crosson, the chair of our Long Island chapter, was recently featured in a local news story about how the garden was formed.

Mary founded the garden in 2015 to teach community members how to grow fresh vegetables. Through our partnership over the years, the Hempstead Community Garden has provided fresh produce at no cost to over 300 families.

Bringing neighbors together is powerful – and we believe organizing at every level is necessary to transform our communities.

Projects like the Hempstead Community garden are essential for community organizing. When community members have their basic needs met, we can focus on creating social change on an even larger scale.

This is why we need your support, Friend. Your grassroots donation helps us keep our garden growing with necessary supplies, teach kids gardening skills they’ll use to feed their community, and run events like our October harvest.

Will you consider giving $15, $25, or any amount you can toward our Hempstead Community Garden Fund to fuel our community organizing efforts?
