On Tuesday night, Iran struck Israel with almost 200 ballistic missiles, marking the second time this year that the Iranians directly attacked Israel.
President Biden has encouraged Israel to “take the win” that these attacks didn’t do a significant amount of damage, and respond “proportionately”, meaning he doesn’t want Israel to respond with great strength.
What Israel should do is to make it clear the time for equivocation about the Iranian threat is over. Israel should destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Sure, there are plenty of other things they could destroy like oil loading facilities, revolutionary guard bases, and ballistic missile assets. But Israel does not know if Iran is going to hide a nuclear weapon under the nosecone of a ballistic missile the next time they strike. That risk is unacceptable.
It’s high time that Israel and the United States work together to eliminate this nuclear threat. As George W. Bush once said, “America is committed to keeping the world's most dangerous weapons out of the hands of the most dangerous regimes.”
And that’s what Iran is. This is the moment to act. |
