Email from Rep. Van Duyne Congratulations to our "Beth's Bookworms" participants!   Irving, TX - As Israel and the Jewish community across the globe face escalating threats, I want to reiterate my support for our ally Israel and my solidarity with the Jewish people. Shana Tova to all our neighbors who celebrated Rosh Hashanah this week! May this new year bring peace. Over the weekend, we kicked off our 2024-2025 Congressional Youth Advisory Council with 80 students. I'm looking forward to seeing them grow and develop new skills as we discuss public policy over the next year. On Monday, we celebrated the Texas-24 students who participated in our inaugural "Beth's Bookworms" summer reading challenge. One of our third graders read 143 books! I recently met with members of the American Hotel and Lodging Association to discuss workforce shortages and my work to implement pro-growth policies that will help our local hoteliers. With so many corporate headquarters and business meetings in North Texas, the hotel and hospitality industry plays an important frontline role in upholding our area’s reputation as a great place to visit and do business. I had a great time meeting with two of our recent Hometown Heroes, Sandy Lauder and Debbie Conard, both of Richardson. It was inspiring to hear more about the work they’re doing to serve others! Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for our community? Let us know. The State Department launched a new system allowing millions of Americans to renew their passports online. To learn more about eligibility, you can click here or on the image below. Later in the week, I met with Greg and Kyle who work for a local family-owned business, Tolleson Wealth Management, that has assisted North Texas individuals and families since 1997. We discussed my work on the Ways and Means Committee to ensure our tax code supports family-owned businesses. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, I led more than 50 of my colleagues in urging CMS to improve access to inpatient rehabilitation care for Medicare Advantage enrollees. We’re working to ensure patients receive the care they need for a successful recovery. Click here to read our letter. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Southlake Police Chief, Ashleigh Casey, who has been protecting North Texans for the last 27 years. I'd like to thank Chief Casey for her continued service to our community. Congressional Veteran Commendation Applications for our office’s Congressional Veteran Commendations are now open! Through this program, we honor the distinguished veterans of Texas-24 and preserve their stories for future generations of Americans. Nominate a hero today. Rep. Van Duyne in the News Watch Rep.
