FACT Coalition Welcomes Erica Hanichak as Government Affairs Director

WASHINGTON, D.C.––The Financial Accountability and Corporate Transparency Coalition (FACT Coalition) announced Wednesday that Erica Hanichak has joined its team as the new Government Affairs Director.

Ms. Hanichak joins the FACT Coalition after five years of engaging the U.S. Congress and the executive branch on national security, human rights, and governance issues at the non-profit Americans for a Free Syria. There, she partnered successfully with policymakers and grassroots groups to pass and implement bipartisan legislation to shut down networks used by war criminals, corrupt officials, and terrorist organizations to evade sanctions and fuel human rights abuses. She likewise campaigned to prevent the diversion and abuse of U.S. humanitarian assistance.

“We’re excited to welcome someone with Erica’s national security and advocacy experience to the FACT Coalition team,” said Clark Gascoigne, FACT’s interim executive director, about the selection. “Her knowledge and skills — combined with a proven record of effectuating bipartisan reform — are an invaluable addition to our efforts to advance meaningful policy change in Washington.”

“For nearly a decade, the FACT Coalition has led the charge to end secret and corrupt financial practices in the U.S. that drive money offshore, undermine human rights, and fuel global corruption,” said Erica Hanichak, on joining the group. “I’m excited to work with FACT’s staff, members, and partners to build on the coalition’s strong foundation.”

The FACT Coalition is a non-partisan alliance of more than 100 state, national, and international organizationsworking toward a fair tax system that addresses the challenges of a global economy and promoting policies to combat the harmful impacts of corrupt financial practices.  The FACT Coalition and its members continue to lead efforts in the United States to 1) end the use of anonymous shell companies as vehicles for illicit activity, and 2) require greater transparency from multinational corporations to promote informed tax policy.
