Dear friendfr,

Today, on the 8th Anniversary of Vice President Joe Biden’s support of marriage
equality in an interview with Meet the Press, we are proudly endorsing him for
President. Below you will find a special invitation to join me and Joe Biden
tonight in a live event celebrating this endorsement.

The Human Rights Campaign was founded 40 years ago to assert political influence
on behalf of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community
in order to advance equality. So we are inviting you, as a valued member of the
HRC family, to be part of an historic political milestone. It’s time to flex our
political muscle and endorse a pro-equality candidate for President.

Former Vice President Joe Biden is the leader our community and our country need
at this moment. His dedication to advancing LGBTQ equality, even when it was
unpopular to do so, has pushed our country and our movement forward. This
November, the stakes could not be higher. Far too many LGBTQ people, and
particularly those who are most vulnerable, face discrimination, intimidation,
and violence simply because of who they are or who they love. But instead of
having our backs, Donald Trump and Mike Pence have spent the last three and a
half years rolling back and undermining protections for LGBTQ people.

Joe Biden will be a president who stands up for all of us. I hope you will work
alongside me and our 3.3 million HRC members and supporters, to ensure that Joe
Biden is the next President of the United States.

Throughout his campaign, Vice President Biden has committed to advancing LGBTQ
equality. In 2019, just weeks after announcing his candidacy at the 36th Human
Rights Campaign Columbus Dinner, Biden committed to passing the Equality Act as
President 3. His campaign’s LGBTQ platform is the most comprehensive LGBTQ
equality plan by a presumptive presidential nominee in our nation’s history.

As Vice President, Biden continued his decades-long fight for LGBTQ hate crime
prevention playing an integral role in passing the landmark Matthew Shepard and
James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act. He played a leading role in repealing
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, allowing transgender people to serve openly in the
military, and giving LGBTQ service members the visibility and respect they
deserve In 2012, he called transgender rights the “civil rights issue of our
time” articulating a truth that many -- even in his own party at the time --
left unaddressed. Throughout his campaign, Biden has elevated the need to
address the epidemic of violence facing the transgender community -- especially
transgender women of color -- and articulated a strong plan to empower
transgender Americans in the workforce to help combat conditions that lead to
disproportionate violence. [MOU1]

For all of these reasons – and so many more – the HRC Board of Directors
unanimously voted to endorse Joe Biden. , I hope you will use your voice and your vote this November. Equality is on
the ballot.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping build the Human Rights
Campaign into the political powerhouse it has become. With this strength, we
will remove Donald Trump and Mike Pence from office.

In Unity,
