Hi John,
I miss you guys! I pray this email finds you and your family well.
It goes without saying that this has been a difficult couple of months for us all. A heartfelt thank you to everyone on the front lines – doctors, nurses, grocery workers, postal workers, custodians, teachers, and so many others who are sacrificing to keep our communities afloat.
I wanted to reach out with an update: Beginning in early March, I put campaigning on hold, including fundraising and events, so I could focus on constituent services and the relief that people so badly need right now. All of my energy and focus has been and will continue to be on getting us through this pandemic.
But I cannot ignore the fact that we have an election coming up. The nominating convention for the Connecticut Democratic Party is on May 11. I am not taking anything for granted. Many of you have heard me say “these positions are not anointed or appointed – you need to work for the vote." And I have been doing just that. I hope my work speaks for itself and translates into the nomination on May 11 and then into votes on Election Day.
Meanwhile, my campaign team has been diligently working to transition our campaign online, so we can continue to get our message out in this new reality. Now more than ever, we see that leadership matters; your vote matters. It is more important than ever that we elect representatives that understand what regular people are going through. It is critical that I keep this seat and that we maintain the House majority. My colleagues and I are working so hard to ensure everyday Americans are prioritized in legislation being passed in Congress.
I know people feel deflated right now. But we cannot give up. We cannot lose hope. We need to be more active and more engaged, so we can deliver results for the people.
We’ve got work to do, and I need your help to do it! I need you to amplify my message and share the work that we’re doing. I need you to remain vigilant and traffic in the truth. I need you to stay engaged and invested. I need you to stay hopeful.
THANK YOU for everything. Please stay safe, and I’ll be in touch soon with more.
