John,
We’re closer to expanding Social Security than ever before.
It’s underreported, amid Donald Trump chaos and corruption, but a specific Social Security expansion bill has been co-sponsored by nearly half of the full House of Representatives.
The Social Security 2100 Act would increase benefits across the board, and restore long-term solvency to the Social Security trust fund by making millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share. At a time when stagnant wages have left Americans with fewer options in retirement, this bill would be a godsend.

Rep. Larson has a plan to bring the 2100 Act to a full vote this fall. But he’s asking for help getting to 218 co-sponsors before he does, guaranteeing the bill’s passage.
If passed, the bill would represent the most significant update to Social Security since 1983―increasing benefits and strengthening the Social Security Trust Fund for the next century. This bill would stop Republican scaremongering about Social Security for good.
Social Security Works members are stepping up for a full court press this summer. We’re going to be making calls, visiting offices, and making our voices heard in favor of Social Security expansion.

This bill is the reason that Social Security Works’ President Nancy Altman testified before Congress this year, calling the bill “a new and positive chapter” in the history of Social Security.
Over 70% of Americans―Democrats, Republicans and independents―believe Social Security should be expanded. If we can get the Social Security 2100 Act through the House, Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump will be forced to either get on board or go on the record against a policy that even their own voters overwhelmingly support.
Donate today to remind all members of Congress where the American people stand: Expand, never cut, Social Security!
This is a critical step toward addressing the retirement security crisis―impacting current and future generations.
Thank you,
Alex Lawson Social Security Works
