Dear Friend,
As Colorado Attorney General, I am working hard to protect our kids. That’s why I’ve taken Meta to court to address Instagram and Facebook’s harmful impact on young people. It’s why I led a coalition of 42 State Attorneys General urging Congress to require social media warning labels to caution people about its harmful effects – an effort that The Grand Junction Sentinel [[link removed]] praised.
As part of protecting kids, I joined School District 51 in Grand Junction to learn firsthand about their new policy on the use of smartphones in schools. I learned that students were less distracted and teachers were able to focus more on teaching and less on classroom management.

At that meeting, I introduced our smartphone challenge, which offers funding to school districts to adopt and implement innovative strategies to manage smartphone use in schools. The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel [[link removed]] also covered our conversation at D51 and highlighted this initiative to support students.
Our society is facing a connection crisis, severely impacting our kids. Reducing phone usage and curbing social media exploitation of kids are part of the solution. We are committed to this work.
Thank you for joining me in tackling this challenge.
Phil
