Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) just released the first draft of the “Bus Line Redesign”. The redesign proposes a completely redrawn map of where transit routes will run. It includes new schedules for how frequently and how late at night buses and trains run. It even proposes renaming all the routes in the system. There’s a LOT to consider, so we’re going to need your help to assess what we like about this proposal and what we should organize to change. |

Its! Going! Down! Pennsylvania's transit systems and communities will come to a screeching halt if the State Legislature doesn't take action before the end of the year. |
Whether we live in rural communities, small towns or big cities, all Pennsylvanians deserve safe, reliable, dignified access to the places they need to go. Public transit operates in all 67 Pennsylvania counties, moving millions of people each year and keeping our economy running. But transit systems and the communities need our PA state legislators to step up and fund the service we deserve.
Since last spring, thousands of transit riders and transit workers took action to support the first increase to transit funding in a decade (without an increase to taxes!). This would benefit communities in all corners of our state - but politicians dropped this transit funding solution from their final budget deal in July. And already, agencies are feeling it - SEPTA has announced fare hikes and service cuts starting January 1st!
Now is the time! Our organizing has pushed transit funding to be the #1 legislative issue for politicians to solve right now, but only a handful of session days remain before the end of the year. |
TAKE ACTION TODAY and send your legislators a letter demanding that they fund the transit service we deserve! |
