John -- I wanted to take a minute
today to express how proud and grateful I am for all the barber
shops, beauty salons, and restaurants that have made the painful
decision to keep their dining rooms closed as COVID-19 continues
to ravage our state.
These small businesses have risked their pocketbooks and
their very survival because they see it as their duty to put
public safety first. I wish we could say the same of Gov. Brian
Kemp, who appears to see it as his duty to “reopen” the state of
Georgia -- no matter the human cost.
Despite facing nearly 30,000 COVID-19 cases in our state,
Gov. Brian Kemp moved full steam ahead with his “reopening” plan
against the advice of doctors and experts. If you can believe it,
Kemp’s plan is too crazy for even Donald Trump, who publicly said
that he “strongly disagreed” with reopening the state this soon.
Gov. Kemp -- who until recently, admitted he didn’t fully
know how COVID-19 spread -- has put us on a path of tremendous
risk, which The Atlantic calls “Georgia's experiment in human
sacrifice.” While Blacks make up only 32% of Georgia’s
population, 54% of those dying from Covid-19 and 80% of Georgians
hospitalized for the virus are Black. Our Governor is
volunteering the sick, elderly, poor, and homeless to be those
who take the brunt of that risk in exchange for pats on the back
from his friends in industry and big business.
That means it is up to us, John,
to follow the leaders in small businesses and take the initiative
into our own hands. We must continue social distancing and listen
to the advice of our doctors and experts. To do my part, I pledge
to keep fighting Gov. Kemp’s reckless decisions and shedding
truth and light everywhere I can. If you’re able, will you pitch
in $10 or $15 so my campaign has the resources to keep holding
Kemp accountable?

Together we will get through this, and I pledge to be on
your side every step of the way.
In solidarity,
Hank
