Last week Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against Austin City Council for the recent budget allocation of $400,000 of taxpayer dollars to send women out of state to obtain abortions.

Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney for Texas Values released the following statement:

“Abortion-obsessed Austin City Council got their hand caught in the pro-death cookie jar. Austin has continually defied our state law with its countless funding of abortion. The Texas legislature and the U.S. Supreme Court have made it clear that the life of the preborn should be protected in our state. Texas provides $140 million to help women choose life but sadly Austin wastes thousands to break the law.”

The debate continues as Texas emphasizes support for life.

Some of the resources provided for expectant mothers include maternity and baby clothing, food, furniture, temporary shelter, medical resources, adoption resources, counseling and mentoring services, assistance with education and career decisions, as well as pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting classes.
