Donald Trump and Mike Rogers just got off the stage at a rally in Saginaw, wrapping up Trump’s 12th visit (!) to the state and 6th in as many weeks.
Here’s the big takeaway: Trump’s message was that 1,430 days since the 2020 election — and just 33 days before the 2024 election — Trump is still claiming he won the 2020 election. He went on about it in detail. He also attacked autoworkers, pledged to defund the Department of Education, and bragged about trying to cheat his employees out of their overtime pay.
The thing is, we’ve seen this movie before.
The reality is that if Trump loses Michigan, he will almost certainly lose the White House — and Republicans will lose the Senate. And the better I do in my race, the better Kamala Harris likely does in the state as well.
That’s why Republicans are throwing everything they can at Michigan: Outside groups have already spent or committed more than $38 million in TV ads attacking me and propping up Mike Rogers — and just this week, Mitch McConnell’s super PAC announced an additional $22.5 million against us.
The latest polls show our state is virtually tied — for both the presidential and the Senate race. Political forecaster Nate Silver’s recently published analysis said not only that Michigan is a pure toss up, but also that there may be no state more important than Michigan in this election.
The only thing we know for certain is that this race will come down to the wire and could go either way on Election Day. And with voters in Michigan already casting their ballots, we can’t waste a single moment in this race. Every voter we reach, every door we knock, every ad we air, and yes every dollar we raise, can be the difference in a race like ours.
But we are not powerless in this campaign.
Want to help? Chip in what you can and help send a message that Michigan is sure as hell not ready to swing back to Trump.
