You may have grown up with me in Pretty in Pink or laughed alongside (or at) me as I tried to raise half a man on Two and a Half Men.

I’ve loved playing so many different characters over the years and making families across America laugh, but today I’m writing to you because I am deeply concerned about the future of our country.

Rick Scott is the biggest thief in the Senate — which is saying something for the half a man that he is. He oversaw the largest Medicare fraud scandal in U.S. history. He’s ready to push a nationwide ban on abortions and strip Americans of their right to access reproductive health care. He’s responsible for the insurance premium crisis that is forcing Floridians to choose between going uninsured or leaving the state altogether, and he wrote the plan to end Social Security and Medicare.

Simply put, Rick Scott is only looking out for himself and his own political gain with his extremist policies. He’s a danger to all Americans. But luckily, I have hope in Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.

Debbie’s been a fighter for Americans and our freedoms. As an associate dean at FIU’s medical school, she fought to bring health care to underserved communities. In her work with Giffords, she fought for commonsense gun safety laws to keep our communities safe. In Congress, she wrote the bill to expand Medicaid and secured $200 million for Everglades protections.

I know our future looks brighter with Debbie Mucarsel-Powell as Florida’s next Senator. But she needs our help to fight back against Rick Scott and his mega-millions. The last time he ran for Senate, he spent $64 million of his own money to buy the Senate seat. That’s why I’m asking you to donate $5, $10, or whatever you can to help us protect our freedoms and elect Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.
