RNC challenges North Carolina laws allowing for overseas voting

  • The RNC challenged a North Carolina law granting voting rights to citizens born abroad who have never lived in the U.S. and whose parent or guardian last resided in the Tar Heel State. The GOP claims that the law violates the state constitution.

Two Georgia counties sue State Election Board over new rules 

  • In Georgia, DeKalb and Cobb Counties sued over new election rules approved by the State Election Board. The counties claim that the rules violate state law and add unnecessary and burdensome requirements to the election process

Tennessee’s highest court hears challenge to state legislative maps

  • The Tennessee Supreme Court heard oral argument today in a challenge to the state's legislative maps. Voters argue that lawmakers unnecessarily split counties and did not properly number districts. According to State Affairs, attorneys for the state argued Thursday that one of the plaintiffs lacks the standing to sue.

Bob Ferguson sued Trump nearly 100 times — now he’s running for governor

  • Washington Gov. Jay Inslee’s (D) announcement that he wouldn’t run for a fourth term left an open seat to lead the Evergreen State for the first time in over 10 years. Bob Ferguson, Washington’s Democratic attorney general, is now seeking the governorship.


  • Ferguson rose to prominence at the onset of former President Donald Trump taking the White House. His was the first attorney general office to file a lawsuit against the Trump travel ban and he went on to sue the Trump administration almost 100 times, winning almost all the lawsuits.
