Green Party donors like you are helping us help Green candidates to make a difference

The donor community of the Green Party US has made possible more than $20,000 in candidate grants during the last eighteen months to worthy Green Party candidates at local, state, and congressional levels.

Recently, the GPUS Coordinated Campaign Committee awarded two grants totaling $1600  to Douglas P. Marsh and Justin Filip, senate and congressional candidates in Michigan and Oregon.  These two candidates are committed to voter outreach, and to building up their respective state parties.

Douglas and Justin do not hobnob with billionaires and lobbyists.  Douglas is a community journalist and Justin is an academic.  They are great examples of principled and ordinary people with ties to the community, who should be in Congress representing us.

On the domestic front, single payer health care, housing affordability reform, and clean water beyond Flint are key issues that you will find on Douglas' campaign website.

On Justin's campaign website you will find examples of Justin's positions on issues of housing and youth engagement.

As our committee was getting know Justin, committee member Gloria Mattera of New York observed that "Justin has put his job on the line for his principles and that is impressive."  Justin faced immediate administrative retaliation when he and other concerned faculty founded University of Oregon Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine in April of this year.  His is a voice and a character model that belongs in Congress.

Cash awards to worthy candidates like Douglas and Justin are granted by the GPUS Coordinated Campaign Committee.   They are possible because of grassroots donors like you.  None of these funds come from corporate or establishment interests.  The funds come either from annual Green Party US budget allocations or from your ongoing direct contributions to the GPUS Coordinated Campaign Committee.  The eight members of the Coordinated Campaign Committee are elected by the GPUS National Committee to provide support to candidates.

Your contribution to the general funds of the Green Party of the United States allows us to support more great candidates like Douglas and Justin, whose activism and campaigns make positive contributions towards much-needed change in US politics.
