NAFCU reviews e-sign relief requests with CFPB
NAFCU Tuesday held a call with the CFPB to further discuss the coronavirus' impact on credit unions and their members, and the bureau's efforts to provide relief. Of note, the discussion reviewed NAFCU's request to modernize e-sign requirements and ways the bureau can do so.

NCUA's Harper sends lawmakers new letter for CU relief
In a letter to Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo R-Idaho, and Ranking Member Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, NCUA Board Member Todd Harper has proposed several legislative opportunities to provide credit unions with relief during the coronavirus pandemic.

Hood to testify before Senate Banking Committee next week
The Senate Banking Committee is holding a hearing next week with NCUA Chairman Rodney Hood slated to testify. The hearing will focus on regulators' efforts to provide financial institutions with relief and resources amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Fed survey reveals tightening lending standards, economic uncertainty
The Federal Reserve's first-quarter senior loan officer opinion survey (SLOOS) revealed tightening lending standards and shifting loan demand as the coronavirus pandemic and its economic impact spread in late March.

FHFA extends some coronavirus relief efforts
The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Tuesday extended several of its efforts intended to provide relief to borrowers for government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) loans amid the coronavirus pandemic. NAFCU is working closely with the FHFA to support liquidity in the mortgage market and ensure credit unions' concerns are addressed.

NAFCU's recertification deadline extended to October 2021
NAFCU has extended all of the recertification deadlines for credit union professionals who are currently certified through its Bank Secrecy Act, compliance, volunteer, and risk manager programs as the coronavirus pandemic may prevent attendance at conferences and ability to obtain necessary credits.
