Hi there,
As the newest addition to the GGWash team, allow me to introduce myself: I'm Tricia Chicka, the Communications Intern for fall 2024. I am taking the reins of many of our email communications and excited to work with these excellent folks on important issues for our region. You can read more about me here [[link removed]] .
I was able to help with the Fall Mixer this past week and it was wonderful to see such great crowd in spite of the weather. It reminds me of the bike commuting and outdoor recreation mantra: No bad weather, only ill-suited gear. The GGWash crowd is not afraid of a little rain and knows how to prepare for it with style!

Book talk: When Driving Is Not an Option [[link removed]]

We’re hosting a book talk with Anna Zivarts on her book, When Driving Is Not an Option: Steering Away from Car Dependency . Anna is the founder of the Week Without Driving [[link removed]] campaign and is the director of the Disability Mobility Initiative in Washington state. Light refreshments will be provided and the first fifteen attendees will receive a free copy of the book.

This fall, Montgomery County will have a big conversation about how its neighborhoods should look in the future–including how to create more housing options for people of different ages, incomes, and lifestyles. What does that mean for you? Let's go for a walk and find out. For this tour, we're taking advantage of the fall foliage and heading out to the historic community of Ashton.

Last week, we sent a letter to the DC Board of Ethics and Government Accountability demanding a change in DC regulations to comply with the First Amendment, stemming from our 2023 effort to provide trainings for new ANC commissioners.

GGWash and the DC Transportation Equity Network organized the Week Without Driving campaign [[link removed]] (September 30 - October 6) in DC. The Week Without Driving encourages public officials and members of the general public to experience firsthand the challenges and opportunities of navigating their community without driving.
