Corny jokes aside, Governor Walz performed admirably at the debate. His honesty, integrity, and solid grasp of policy issues were clear for all to see. This of course contrasted heavily with Senator Vance’s debate performance; in that when he wasn’t dodging questions about whether Trump won the 2020 election he was lying about Trump not attempting to repeal the Affordable Care Act. |

If you saw through Vance’s lies Monday night, consider giving to the IDP today. The more resources we have, the easier it is to confront local Republican lies right here in Iowa. |

The two different visions for America’s future presented by Walz and Vance could not be more different. The future of Harris and Walz is one defined by trustworthy and reliable leadership. A future where the president and vice president uphold the Constitution, and not only are able to look at issues from an open perspective, but actually want to solve them. |

A presidency of Trump and Vance is one defined by complete and total obedience to the leader. Trump’s lies are not to be challenged, and his orders are not to be questioned. It’s why Trump wants to remove nonpartisan protections for Federal staff– he wants to be able to replace non-partisan staff with yes-men at will. It’s also why Trump chose Vance in the first place. He knew Vance wouldn’t say he lost in 2020 on the debate stage Monday night, and he also knows Vance will help him try to overturn the election if he loses again this time.

An America where Donald Trump has the ability to manipulate the government to benefit himself and get rid of checks and balances is one in which we have no freedom of our own. Vance has shown himself willing to be a tool for Trump for Vance’s own political benefit. We cannot allow Vance into a position of power, any more than we can Trump. We have too much to lose. We are not going back. |
