Notice of Funding Availability

Industrial Symbiosis Program grant application open now through Nov. 1

Commerce has grant funding available through the Industrial Symbiosis Program (ISP) to support projects that advance the concept that economic growth does not have to equal waste, supporting the directives of the Legislature in RCW 43.31.625.

This program is a catalyst for transforming industrial waste from one industry to a valuable product in another, stimulating job creation and economic development, and contributing to a cleaner future for Washington.

Since 2021, Commerce has awarded $1.85 million in grant funding to support beneficial projects to reduce industrial waste and stimulate recycling innovation as outlined in RCW 43.31.635.

This is a competitive funding opportunity. Applicants may apply for $150,000 to $500,000 per project, with Commerce expecting to issue multiple grant awards across Washington state.

Who is eligible?

This grant is open to any private, non-profit, tribal, or public/government entity taking steps to reduce, reuse, or eliminate industrial waste to benefit Washington’s circular economy.
