Take action against corporate greed today.

Dear John,

Plans to expand the Martabe gold mine threaten the Batang Toru forest in North Sumatra – one of the last remaining true jungles left in Indonesia. And home to the last few hundred Tapanuli orangutans in existence.

Almost all of the Tapanuli’s forest home has already been cleared. If the gold mine’s expansion destroys its last refuge, it will mean extinction for this irreplaceable great ape.

We must stop more gold being mined at the expense of this nature-rich rainforest and the home it provides for critically endangered species.

We need you to speak out against plans to expand the mine. Sign the petition to save the last Tapanuli orangutans left on earth today.

I'LL SIGN THE PETITION

The Martabe gold mine has already destroyed huge swaths of the Batang Toru forest. Which is also home to other critically endangered species such as the Sumatran tiger and the pangolin. Now, the mining company wants to expand deeper into the forest, threatening even more precious wildlife and local communities.

The mine’s parent company, Jardine Matheson, is UK-owned, so we’re standing in solidarity with WALHI and the local communities they work with. To demand the company stops its destructive plans.

A couple of weeks ago we joined WALHI who came to the UK to take their protest direct to Jardine Matheson’s London HQ and the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel – one of its global brands.

Now’s your chance to show solidarity too. Please tell Jardine Matheson to stop the gold mine expansion. Before it’s too late for the Tapanuli orangutan. And before more livelihoods are ruined by the pollution and destruction of the mining operations.

Every signature adds to a collective voice that builds pressure on Jardine Matheson. So, will you sign the petition today?

YES, I'LL SIGN THE PETITION

Thank you for your opposition to the gold mine expansion. And showing your solidarity with WALHI. Thanks for taking a stand for the last remaining Tapanuli orangutans. And the forest communities of the Batang Toru forest.

Your support today shows how much we want a priceless forest to be protected from corporate greed and destruction.

In determination,

Nick Rau
