Dan Patrick

Texas stands firmly with Israel. As Israel comes under attack from Iran, please pray for the Israeli people during these perilous times.

Pray for Israel

Last week, Governor Abbott issued a proclamation calling for a statewide moment of silence at 7:00 AM CDT on October 7, 2024, to honor the victims whose lives were tragically taken due to the acts of war committed by the brutal terrorist organization Hamas and remembrance for those who are still held hostage to this day. The Texas and U.S. flags will be lowered at half-staff in observance.

Please join us in a moment of silence and prayer to honor the men, women, and children who were tragically killed or wounded in the attacks carried out by Hamas and to pray for the seven Americans still held hostage.

Traveling with President Trump Across Texas

Trump in Texas

Trump Plane

Motorcade

On Wednesday, I traveled with President Trump from Houston to Midland for a lunch event and back to Houston for an evening fundraising event.

It’s always a privilege to travel with President Trump. Going back to 2016, we’ve probably done about 25 events and meetings (as candidate and President) in Texas. I’m proud to be his Campaign Chair for Texas for the third time.

A guest in Midland had a jacket made just for the President’s events.

Vance Won the Debate

Vance

I had the honor of speaking at an event with Senator JD Vance in Houston this past August. It was no surprise that he again delivered (big time) on Tuesday night and clearly won the debate. He came across as smart and knowledgeable on the issues. Tim Walz came across as a knucklehead (his words) dancing around question after question, clearly unsure of himself.

Celebrating the Groundbreaking of the New Alamo Visitor Center and Museum

Alamo Visitor Center

On Tuesday, I joined Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham and many others at the Alamo to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new museum and visitor center that will elevate the Alamo to a world-class historic site. This project will allow people from around the world to learn about the ideals of freedom, liberty, and patriotism, and the fateful battle that took place in 1836.

As Lt. Governor, I began funding this massive rebuild in 2015. Currently, it is the largest visitor center and museum being built in America. When finished, it will be one of the finest historic sites in the world. I will never stop fighting to preserve and protect the story of the fight for independence, freedom, and liberty at the Alamo.

A rendition of the new visitor center and museum, featuring a large 4D movie experience, is located directly across the street from the Alamo Church. Many shops used to be located across from the Alamo.

Texas’ Own Kris Kristofferson Passes

Kris Kristofferson

One of America’s greatest songwriters, Kris Kristofferson, passed away this week at 88. I met him in Austin in 2017 at an awards event (pictured above with two of the Gatlin Brothers). I was a huge fan of his writing. Me and Bobby McGee, Sunday Morning Coming Down, For the Good Times, and Help Me Make It Through the Night are just a few of his biggest hits.

Born in Brownsville, he was a Rhodes Scholar, Army Ranger, helicopter pilot, singer, songwriter, and, for a while, a movie star, playing roles like Billy the Kid and co-starring with Barbra Streisand in A Star is Born. One of my favorite bands was The Highwayman with Willie, Waylon, Cash, and Kris.

After the Army, he spent years as a janitor in Nashville recording studios, trying to get someone to record his songs. The famous story is that he flew a helicopter and landed in Johnny Cash’s backyard to pitch his song Sunday Morning Coming Down. It became a #1 hit for Cash.

When I met Kris, I asked him if that story was true. He smiled at me and said, “If that’s what people say, I can’t say it wasn’t true.” He was extremely nice and very humble.

Another great Texas-born talent is gone.
