URGENT: CALL GOV. ABBOTT NOW
|
Dear John,
Last week, 34 renowned scientists and doctors, a bipartisan group of 86 Texas lawmakers, faith leaders, innocence advocacy groups, former judges, former lead detective Brian Wharton, and more filed letters in support of Robert Roberson’s clemency petition to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles and Gov. Greg Abbott.
John: Will you join them in urging Gov. Abbott to stop the Oct. 17 execution of Robert Roberson before it’s too late?

|
Robert is an innocent man wrongly convicted under the now-debunked shaken baby syndrome hypothesis — and unless Gov. Abbott intervenes, Robert will be the first person ever to be executed on this discredited hypothesis.
Dr. Norman Guthkelch was the neurosurgeon whose paper first shared the shaken baby syndrome hypothesis to explain childhood deaths. But, years later, he was horrified to see how his untested hypothesis had been treated as established fact and used to imprison parents. He noted that many of the children in purported "shaken baby" cases had a history of illnesses that had not been considered and may well have explained their seemingly mysterious deaths, not abuse.

The overwhelming medical and scientific evidence proves no crime occurred and that Robert’s 2-year-old, chronically ill daughter, Nikki, actually died of severe viral and bacterial pneumonia that medical professionals missed in 2002.
If Robert were to be tried today, no credible science would support the shaken baby syndrome hypothesis that led to his wrongful conviction and death sentence over two decades ago.
With just 14 days until the Oct. 17 execution of Robert Roberson, we MUST urge Gov. Abbott to intervene and save an innocent man’s life. Please call Gov. Abbott at 361-264-9653 today.

Thank you,
Innocence Project
