At Climate Week NYC, Aspen Ideas hosted a conversation with former U.S. Secretary of State and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.

Aspen Institute at Climate Week

Last week, we traded the mountains of Aspen for the streets of New York City to take on Climate Week NYC, where representatives from across Aspen Institute convened for important conversations about our planet’s future.

Staff from the Aspen Institute’s Energy & Environment Program (EEP) joined panels to discuss international climate governance, net zero commitments for business leaders, and the push for cleaner fuels in the global shipping industry led by the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA). This is Planet Ed, an initiative of EEP, also organized a brainstorm to figure out what it will take to empower all young people with the understanding, knowledge, and skills they need for success in our changing climate.

Aspen Ideas hosted former U.S. Secretary of State and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry for a conversation with The Economist’s Vijay Vaitheeswaran about private capital and the government's role in getting it to move through de-risking and concessional funding.

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs represented the voice of the small and growing business sector, mobilizing their robust network of entrepreneurs and industry leaders committed to building a sustainable future. And last but not least, the Aspen Global Innovators Group explored the diverse impacts of climate change on health systems and vulnerable communities worldwide, emphasizing the need for inclusive climate policies that center the voices and expertise of young people and address intersectional impacts related to health, geography and gender.
