Dear AFC supporter,

For half a century, the Anne Frank Center has reached Americans of all ages through our community-based arts and education programs that teach compassion, connect the past to the present, and show new generations the social tools they need to survive. As we adjust to the pandemic, millions worldwide are turning to her words for inspiration and perspective.

"I simply can't build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death.... If I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquillity will return again."

We've been busy retooling our programs where we can during this time to offer:
* interviews with Holocaust survivors
* video reflections
* art projects for kids
* online writing workshops
* virtual classrooms for our residencies

Or, as one volunteer called it, "food for the soul."

And this past week, our actors joined Doyle Stevick with the University of South Carolina for a 24-hour Live Virtual Vigil ([link removed]) in honor of Holocaust Remembrance hosted by Together We Remember, to present a 10-minute highlight performance of "Letters from Anne and Martin."
ABOVE: AFC actors Alexendra Gellner (Anne Frank) and Parish Bradley (Martin Luther King Jr.), during the live online highlight performance of our powerful "Letters from Anne and Martin," Thursday, April 30, 2020.

DID YOU KNOW?
Since its inception, the Anne Frank Center has served more than two million Americans. Each year we bring exhibits, performances, and school-based workshops to communities throughout the United States -- but only through the generosity of donations.

Ironically, most of the schools where we could have the greatest impact are also the ones with the greatest financial needs. So we offset their costs wherever possible, relying on community grants and private, tax-deductible donations.

Research shows that programs like our peer-to-peer guide training teach kids:
* to be leaders,
* to see diverse groups more favorably, and
* to embrace opportunities for success.

PLUS, kids learn best when they're sharing what they've learned with their peers. We show them how.

It's our honor and our privilege to educate against hatred and to teach the lessons of the past through Anne Frank's remarkable legacy. Thank you for believing in the value of our mission and for all you do for the good of humanity.

Today, we are asking you to pitch in ([link removed]) , if you can. Every dollar helps us deliver our mission, and right now we need your help more than ever. Your gift, no matter the size, can help us increase awareness, celebrate diversity, provide opportunities for dialogue, and empower youth in your area.

WE VALUE YOUR SUPPORT
We could not do the work we do without the generosity of our charitable donors. We appreciate your support in all its forms, whether following us online, hosting our programs, or standing up against prejudice in your area. This is how we can honor the legacy of Anne Frank and all those lost to the horrors of hatred.

And now, on #GivingTuesday ([link removed]) , you can help us reach our goal.

We teach the past to build a better future, through community partnerships, creative teachers, and your charitable support. Now, more than ever, we thank you for all you do.

Wishing health and safety to you and your loved ones,
Peter M. Rapaport
