Service alert: Olympic View Transfer Station reopens Thursday, October 3
garbage

*Wednesday, October 2, 2024*

After a one-day closure due to equipment issues, Olympic View Transfer Station [ [link removed] ] will reopen on Thursday, October 3 and resume normal operating hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Lines may be slightly longer than normal for the remainder of the week. 

The facility was closed Wednesday due to a broken garbage compactor. The compactor is fixed, and facility operators will work overnight to remove accumulated garbage from the tipping floor in preparation for the reopening.

Kitsap County has acquired a second garbage compactor that will be installed in 2025. This will allow the facility to process waste faster and provide a backup in the event of future outages.
